You should refer to the instruction manual provided with your device in case there are any updates since this post. These steps are a user experience demonstration for a brand new product just out of the package and intended for one-person use only . Test strips are single-use only. Keep out of reach of children or pets. Follow your health care providers recommendation for decontamination procedures and disposal of used test strips and lancets. The CareTouch user manual refers to CaviWipes Towelettes as an EPA-registered disinfectant to use for cleaning and disinfecting the outside of the meter.
1. Install batteries in the CareTouch Meter. Batteries are included in the package. The meter will have a blank LCD screen until you insert a test strip in the next step. Inserting a test strip turns the meter on.
2.Turning the Meter On Insert a brand new CareTouch Test Strip into the meters test strip slot as shown. A code number will display on the LCD screen. Match the code number on the LCD screen to the test strip vial to make sure they match. The code is located on the vials label as shown. In the example, you will see the CODE A01 matches on both the LCD screen and the vial. If the codes do not match try using a new test strip. If the problem persists call customer support at 1-866-890-8500. Note: Do not touch the test strip slit at the end of the test strip. You can hold the test strips in the middle.

The test strips are already pre-coded meaning you don’t need to worry about batch codes being on each strip. As a result there’s no need to insert codes so you get the greatest accuracy with minimal effort. Accuracy is at the FDA approved level meaning it’s plenty high enough to rely on. That’s required to be within 15% of the true glucose number 95% of the time and within 20% for 99% of the time. Its main competitor, the Accu-Chek Guide is more reliable, but costs a little more.
The sample size is smaller than lots of big name monitors require, at just 0.5 microliters. Using the provided lance means you can easily and relatively painlessly get your blood sample for the test strip.
The strip inserts easily and then causes the monitor to automatically turn on. After you’ve got your reading, within just five seconds, you can then remove the strip using an ejection button. This makes the process super easy and clean so you can put the unit down and move on while it turns itself off. Simple.
Other Meters Being Developed
Besides the above four CGMs, other meters are being developed that do not require blood samples. One such CGM is called GlucoTrack by Integrity Applications, which measures blood glucose via your earlobe. However, it hasnt yet been FDA approved.
Other types of technologies may be seen soon to help improve diabetes management without the need for finger pricks. However, standalone smartwatches, contact lenses, and other buzzworthy devices havent yet proven to accurately measure blood glucose.

What Are Lancets And Test Strips Used For
